I also work artistically on projects, using photography, text and audio through collaborations with artists and participants to explore notions of loss, family, identity and place.
My work has been shown at The Southbank Centre, Manchester International Festival, The Whitworth, Open Eye Gallery, Brighton Photo Biennial and by The One Show, BBC Breakfast, The Guardian and British Journal of Photography.
My latest book ‘Dear Kairos’ won the FE+SK Book Award 2023 and was shortlisted for the Arles Rencontres de la Photographie Prix du Livre.
My project Loved&Lost invites participants to explore their experience of loss through restaging a family photograph and recording an interview. It has been presented in galleries across the UK and featured on The One Show and BBC Breakfast TV, reaching an audience of over 10 million.
I also run socially engaged photography workshops and have worked with young people and prisoners through institutions such as HMP Thorn Cross, Manchester City Council, Open Eye Gallery, John Hansard Gallery and The Prince’s Trust.
I previously worked as creative producer for Martin Parr and am currently a lecturer in Photojournalism at Bournemouth University.
